Future direction

The canvas is here. The shared workspace is next.

Skeleton is available today as a local-first canvas for independent visual planning. We are exploring optional cloud and team modes for people who need to take that same way of thinking across devices, into shared workspaces, and into live conversations.

The local canvas is real now. The shared workspace is a direction, not a promise or a release date.

What exists today

Start with the canvas that is already here.

Today, Skeleton gives you a browser-local workspace for cards, notes, visual connections, nested canvases, pan and zoom navigation, complete-project JSON exports, and current-canvas PNG exports.

It is ready for independent thinking now. There is no account, cloud sync, shared workspace, or live collaboration required—or available—to get started.

Future, not available today

More ways to carry a good map forward.

These are areas we are exploring for optional cloud and team modes. They are not launch commitments, feature guarantees, or a published roadmap.

Account-backed sync
Access the same work across devices without losing the local-first clarity of the starting experience.
Recovery and version history
Give people more confidence in long-running work with hosted backup and a clearer history of change.
Controlled sharing
Let an owner decide who can view, comment on, or edit a canvas.
Shared workspaces
Give teams a place to keep related maps together without turning Skeleton into a generic project-management suite.
Live collaboration
Allow people to think together with presence, comments, and concurrent editing when the foundation is ready.
